Positive Parenting Program

Focus On Renewal Positive Parenting Family Fun Night

Family Support Centers use Parents As Teachers (PAT)* – an evidence-based home visiting program recognized by the federal government. Through their involvement in PAT, parents work with a parent educator to gain knowledge that will help ensure that their children will learn, grow and develop to realize their full potential. In addition to our home visiting program, all Centers host classes and support groups where parents can share their experiences, learn about healthy child development, and explore positive parenting techniques.

“We are big on getting kids ready for Kindergarten!” - Adriene Roberts

We realize every family is different and every families needs are different. We work with families at your comfort level. Some programs are organized by parents, are parent driven, and parent run. The name Positive Parenting can be deceiving, we do not offer parenting classes. This program is part of the Allegheny County Family support program Hays, Myers Ridge, and Ryan Arts Center. Part of the office of child development.

Family Support Programming

Family Support programs are based on the philosophy that the most effective way to ensure the healthy development and growth of small children is by supporting the families and communities in which they live.  They are designed to increase the strength and stability of families, to increase parents' confidence and competence in their parenting abilities.

Family Support programs not only represent a place where parents can come together to share, support each other, or learn about and benefit from their community's resources but they also represent a community process -  anew way of doing business.  All segments of the community come together as partners and begin the process of identifying and achieving mutual goals and objectives.
