FOR Sto-Rox Health Center Awarded Grant
In May, community health centers in Pennsylvania were awarded $10.95 million in grant funding made available through the Affordable Care Act, which is the 2010 federal health care overhaul. The money will be used to expand facilities and improve existing services according to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, and serve almost 14,000 new patients. Pennsylvania's top recipient is the Sto-Rox Family Health Council in McKees Rocks, which is set to receive $1.9 million. >> Read more
Forty Years of a Healing Presence
One of the best kept secrets in McKees Rocks is the Sto-Rox Neighborhood Health Center, conveniently located at 710 Thompson Avenue.
Father Regis Ryan has served as the Executive Director of the Health Center since 1975 with Sister Ruth Bearer who retired this year.
The Health Center’s top priority is meeting the health care needs of residents of Sto-Rox and neighboring communities. The Sto-Rox Neighborhood Family Health Center is a full-service medical center providing quality care for people at every stage of life – from pre-natal to senior years.
Meet Our Team:
We have three primary care physicians who are Board Certified: Dr. Katerina Zavaras, Pediatrics, 19 years with the Health Center (pictured top left); Dr. Tahir Ali, Internal Medicine, 13 years (pictured top right); and Dr. Janette Partezana, Family Practice, 16 years (pictured bottom left). They admit patients to Ohio Valley General Hospital or Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Becky McGough, a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, does the sports physicals and state mandated physicals in all of the Sto-Rox schools (pictured bottom right). She also sees adults at the main site and women’s health patients. Becky works in collaboration with all the physicians in the Sto-Rox Family Health Center.
