Father Ryan Arts Center - House Manager/Mainetenance

The Father Ryan Arts Center is seeking a house manager/maintenance person. The ideal candidate will work weekends and evenings.   

Duties and respinsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Remove and empty all trash.
  • Clean and stock bathrooms.
  • Move furniture as requested.
  • Set up theater and other rooms as required by rental agreements.
  • Provide hospitality to guests attending events.
  • Assure safety of guests.
  • Put away all food items in proper place.
  • Pick up trash.
  • Clean all facilities after events (including bathrooms).
  • Clean all surfaces (floors, chairs, tables and counters).
  • Sweep, vacuum and mop.
  • Secure the building (turn off all lights, lock all doors, set alarm).
  • Remove snow from walkways around building.
  • Work outdoors.
  • Other duties as assigned...

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must successfully pass Child Abuse background check.
  • A criminal background check may be considered.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Must have flexible hours/schedule/be able to work weekends and evenings.
  • Must be able to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Must be have good communication and people skills.

Family Development Specialist

Focus On Renewal Positive Parenting Family Support Program. Contact

Focus On Renewal (FOR) is seeking a Family Development Specialist for its Positive Parenting Program. The Family Development Specialist is responsible for providing direct service to families from diverse backgrounds with children birth - 6 years. The services provided help families set personal goals and deal with the many obstacles that come up in day to day life. This direct service will include preschool, home visits, goal planning, advocacy and referrals linking families to any needed services. Reports to: Director, Positive Parenting Program.

Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitate preschool five(5) days a week using Positive Parenting Preschool Curriculum.
  • Complete minimum of one home visit per month with each assigned family.
  • Conduct minimum of two(2) developmental assesments per year on each assigned child.
  • Participate in the development of special events and celebrations with/for families.
  • Participate in the development of and facilitate parent groups.
  • Build positive rapport with parents and children.
  • Maintain the family support center site and ensure a welcoming atmosphere
  • Attend a minimum of twenty(20) hours of job-related trainings annually.
  • Participatre in outreach/recruiting for Positive Parenting Program.
  • Refer/Advocate on behalf of families and children with outside agencies.
  • Provide crisis intervention.
  • Maintain confidentiality of All Positive Parenting families.
  • Maintain files and complete all paperwork as required.
  • Attenmd staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Must possess valid Pennsylvania driver's license and use of personal vehicle required with proof of insurance.
  • Child Development Associate(CDA) is a minimum requirement. Bachelor's Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood or related field or experience working with young children is preferred.
  • Experience in home visiting.
  • Ability to work with individuals form diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Word and Google Apps.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills
  • Must possess valid Act 33/34 and FBI Clearances.

This position is a full-time, non-exempt position that pays $12.75 hourly. Compensation is not negotiable.

About Positive Parenting:

Positive Parenting Family support Centers are designed to provid eeducation and support to the families we serve. We provide service in three sites throughout the Sto-Rox community to famlies with children birth through age five. Ther goal of the program is to prevent child abuse and help children and their families' transition into the school system. Family Support programs are based on the philosophy that the most effective way to ensure the healthy development and growth of small children is by suppporting the families and communities in which they live. The Psoitive Parenting Family Support Centers offer:

  • PRESCHOOL - three different sites in the the Sto-Rox community, five days a week, 9 a.m. to Noon. We strive to promote self esteem, social skills and skills necessary to enter kindergarten.
  • HOME VISITS - Every family receiveing service through Positive Parenting will receive a minimum of one ome visit a month. The purpose of home visits is to provide the information, support and encouragemnent parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life.

Part-time Job Opportunity through Allegheny County
Please note this position is available through Allegheny County's STEP program and individuals hired are NOT employees of FOR.
The Senior Training and Employment Program (STEP) provides work experience and training opportunities to Allegheny County residents age 55 and older who meet income guidelines. Individuals enrolled in the program receive 20 hours of training/work experience in nonprofit or government agencies and are paid minimum wage. Applicants must 55 or older and unemployed for at least six months. Income cannot be more than 125% of the poverty level.
