About Us
Sto-Rox residents know they can always turn to F.O.R. for help. Staff,
families and volunteers work together to improve the quality of life
for the residents of McKees Rocks and Stowe Township.
One of the first programs started by F.O.R. was a mental health center
in 1970 where area residents could go for weekly visits with professional
counselors. Since then, F.O.R. has added many other much-needed programs
like Positive Parenting in 1985.
Always dedicated to the health and well-being of the community, F.O.R.
twice collaborated with L.I.N.C., in 1999, on special projects:
- Early Childhood Intitiative (ECI) Developed by a special United Way
coalition, ECI sought to ensure that children five years and young
are provided with comprehnsive, early education and development programs
and daycare services.
- Community Connections for Families (CCF) which
focused on children age six
to 14 years with mental health issues. In conjunction with Mercy
Behavioral Health System and Staunton Clinic, CCF set a goal to replace
the frustrating,
fragmented approach to mental health care with a more comprehensive,
flexible and caring one.
- To further increase their abilities to serve
the Sto-Rox community, F.O.R. and its directors have been continually
striving toward greater computer
literacy.
Our mission is one of service and commitment. Please call (412) 771-6460
if we can be of service.
